Jon England

Jon England traverses the space between contemporary art and museum practices to explore social, political, industrial as well as military histories. He draws upon the specificity of site, the minutiae of experience and the tangibility of objects as a means of connecting with globally significant events. The innovative re-appropriation of resonant materials creates linking threads between the historic and the contemporary, the specific and the universal.

His work explores the paradoxes of ‘remembrance’, employing labour intensive processes and the material or lives previously lived to relate to histories that cannot be ‘remembered’ or even fully imagined.

A graduate of Central St Martin’s College of Art, he has curated and exhibited projects in Poland and Russia and the UK as well as creating commissioned works for clients in North and Central America and Europe.
